5 Reasons Companies are Choosing Bikeworks This Christmas

The Christmas season is all about joy, giving, and coming together – and what better way for your team to celebrate than with an experience that gives back to the community?

At Bikeworks, our Charity Bike Factory events bring holiday magic to corporate team building. You’ll build bikes, build bonds, and most importantly, spread goodwill to those who need it most.

Here’s why companies across the UK are choosing Bikeworks for their end-of-year celebrations:

1. Giving Back Has Never Felt So Good 🎁

Our events are about more than fun (although there’s plenty of that!). Every team builds a real bike that is gifted to a nominated charity – bringing Christmas cheer to a child or family in need. It’s a hands-on way to make a difference and embrace the season of giving.

“We were so happy to be a part of building bikes for charity, and it was a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication in making this event such a success. We highly recommend Bikeworks to anyone looking for a unique and meaningful team-building experience.”

– Luis, Google

2. Magical Venues Fit for a Festive Celebration 🌟

Celebrate the season in style at the London Velodrome, the iconic Olympic Park venue that adds wow-factor to your event. Or let us bring the Christmas spirit to your office – we travel across the UK to deliver unforgettable experiences wherever you are.

3. Spark Joy and Boost Team Morale 🎄

After a long year, your team deserves to reconnect and celebrate. Our festive bike-building challenges are packed with fun, creativity, and a dash of friendly competition – all wrapped up in tinsel and teamwork.

4. Support Inclusive Cycling with Every Event 💚

The Ultimate Guide to Christmas Team Building

How to Celebrate, Connect & Give Back This Festive Season

As the end of the year approaches, it’s the perfect time to hit pause, reflect, and reconnect – not just with the work, but with the people behind it.

Christmas team building isn’t just about tinsel and mince pies (though we love those too). It’s a chance to celebrate your team’s achievements, strengthen relationships, and spark some much-needed joy before the year wraps up.

Whether you’re planning a festive get-together for 10 or 200 people, this guide will help you design a Christmas team building experience that’s meaningful, memorable, and maybe even a little magical.

🎉 Why Christmas is the Perfect Time for Team Building

December naturally brings people together. It’s a time of reflection, appreciation, and — let’s be honest — needing a bit of fun after a long year.

Team building during the holidays helps to:

  • Boost morale before the break
  • Celebrate successes as a group
  • Build stronger connections between colleagues
  • Create shared memories that last into the new year

And when it’s done well, it can be the highlight of your company calendar.

🎯 What Makes a Great Christmas Team Building Activity?

The best Christmas team building events balance fun with purpose, helping people feel good, not just entertained.

Here’s what to look for:

✅ Inclusive

Make sure everyone can take part and feel comfortable, whether they love group activities or prefer a more relaxed vibe.

✅ Hands-on

Activities that get people moving, making, or solving problems together often lead to the most bonding (and the most laughter).

✅ Meaningful

Look for ways to give your event a bigger purpose, like supporting a cause, learning something new, or giving back to the community.

✅ Memorable

Think beyond the usual Christmas jumper day. Choose experiences that people will talk about well into January.

🎁 Christmas Team Building Ideas (That People Actually Enjoy)

Here are a few team building formats that tick all the boxes:

1. Festive Creative Workshops

From wreath-making to gingerbread house competitions, these hands-on sessions bring out everyone’s inner artist.

2. Escape Room Challenges

Whether physical or virtual, they encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and a healthy dose of adrenaline.

3. Volunteer as a Team

Give back to your community, whether it’s sorting food parcels, wrapping gifts for local families, or partnering with a local charity.

4. Charity-Focused Team Building Activities

Combine collaboration and impact. For example, some organisations offer team events where your group builds bikes, toys, or care packages to donate to those in need.

💡 At Bikeworks, we run the Charity Bike Factory, a team building experience where your team becomes “elves on a mission,” building bikes that are donated to local families in need. It’s a brilliant way to blend play, purpose, and giving back – and 100% of profits support inclusive cycling programmes for disabled people and carers.

5. Christmas Games & Competitions

Mix in some trivia, festive bingo, or office Olympics to spark laughter and light-hearted competition.

💡 Tips for Planning Your Christmas Team Event
  • Start early – Venues and facilitators book up quickly
  • Set a tone – Decide if you want it to be playful, reflective, celebratory, or impactful (or all of the above)
  • Know your team – Consider personalities, accessibility, and cultural sensitivities
  • Leave space for connectionThe best part of any team event is often the conversations it sparks

🎅 Make This Year Meaningful

There are lots of ways to celebrate the festive season – but the best Christmas team building experiences are the ones that leave people feeling connected, energised, and part of something bigger.

If you’re looking for something that brings your team closer and makes a real difference, consider a purpose-led event like the Charity Bike Factory.

Because this Christmas, it’s not just about what you do together, it’s about the impact you can create.

Making ESG Tangible for Your Team

You’ve made the commitment. Your Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals are set. But how do you bring those ambitions to life — in a way that truly engages your team?

Bikeworks helps you move beyond policy into purpose.

At a Charity Bike Factory event, your team experiences firsthand what it means to give back, collaborate, and leave a legacy. These aren’t just bikes — they’re symbols of freedom and access for children and families who wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to ride.

🌍 Your team becomes part of a bigger mission: promoting sustainable travel, reducing inequality in access to cycling, and reinvesting in local communities through our non-profit programmes.

This is ESG in action — not just a tick-box exercise, but a team experience with tangible, lasting impact that inspires, connects, and motivates.

Why This Matters Now

The world is asking more from businesses and your people are too. They want to work for organisations that truly walk the talk.

Team Building That Matters is your opportunity to align internal culture with external commitments. It’s where wellbeing meets belonging, and where employee engagement drives real community change.

Team Building That Matters: Turning Values Into Action

Inclusion. Belonging. Purpose. Impact.

These aren’t just buzzwords, they’re the foundation of teams that truly thrive.

At Bikeworks, we believe the best teams aren’t just productive – they’re connected, diverse, and motivated by shared values. Our Charity Bike Factory events bring this vision to life, giving your people the chance to reconnect while creating real-world change.

From DEI to Belonging: Build Teams Where Everyone Feels They Matter

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is evolving. Today, the conversation goes beyond representation – it’s about creating spaces where people truly feel they belong.

At Bikeworks, inclusion isn’t an add-on; it’s in our DNA. Our team building experiences reflect this deeply held value.

As a social enterprise, we champion accessibility through our inclusive cycling programmes. Every bike your team builds directly supports initiatives like our All Ability Clubs, where thousands of Disabled people and carers ride with us each year – free of charge.

💬 When your team comes together to build bikes, they’re also building opportunity, independence, and joy for people too often overlooked.

Team building with heart, purpose, and measurable social impact.
As one of our clients shared:

“Participating in Bikeworks’ Charity Bike Factory was more than just team building — it brought our people closer, gave us a shared sense of purpose, and reminded us how meaningful our work can be. It’s an experience that truly connects values with action.”

If you’re ready to create meaningful connections within your team while making a positive difference in the community, let’s start building — one bike at a time.

Putting Wellbeing into Practice: Team Building That Really Works

Employee wellbeing isn’t just a buzzword, it’s the foundation of thriving teams. Yet, in today’s hybrid working world, many still feel isolated, overwhelmed, or disconnected.

At Bikeworks, we believe true wellbeing comes from genuine connection, a shared sense of purpose, and the opportunity to do something meaningful – together.

That’s why our inclusive team building experiences go beyond the usual perks. We create space for colleagues to reconnect, decompress, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Time to Slow Down, Connect, and Recharge

Our flagship Charity Bike Factory invites your team to step away from digital fatigue and dive into a hands-on, human experience. Together, they’ll build bikes from scratch — sharing tools, stories, and laughter along the way.

The result? A stronger, more connected team, and a lasting wellbeing boost that goes beyond the usual lunchtime webinar.

Even better, every bike built is gifted to a child, young person, or family who wouldn’t otherwise have access to cycling. This shared act of giving back brings renewed energy, fresh perspective, and a meaningful sense of purpose beyond the usual work routine.

Wellbeing That Goes Beyond the Workplace

We know lasting wellbeing isn’t built by one-off workshops or quick self-care tips alone. It grows from:

💬 Feeling part of something bigger

🧠 Reducing stress through real-world, shared experiences

🩵 Rediscovering purpose and belonging

🤝 Connecting with others in a meaningful way

That’s exactly what our team building days deliver. They’re not just morale boosters — they’re wellbeing moments that remind people why they matter and how they make a difference.

Your Team Day Helps Others Thrive, Too

As a social enterprise, income from our corporate programmes directly funds free community cycling initiatives — like our All Ability Clubs, where over 3,300 disabled people and carers ride with us each year on specialist cycles.

So when your team takes part, they’re not only supporting their own wellbeing — they’re helping others access the same opportunities.

Ready to Prioritise People?

Whether you’re looking to support mental health, reconnect a hybrid team, or simply give people the gift of purpose and play — we’re here to help.

Let’s build something better for your team.

Let’s build wellbeing that works.

Human Connection in an AI World: Why Bikeworks Team Building Events Matter More Than Ever

In 2025, AI is everywhere. It’s transforming how we work – automating tasks, streamlining decision-making, and even shaping how teams communicate.

But while productivity goes up, something else is quietly slipping away: human connection.

As we become more digitally connected, we risk becoming emotionally disconnected. And that’s a problem.

Because behind every great organisation are teams built on trust, empathy, adaptability and collaboration — qualities that can’t be downloaded, automated, or outsourced.

That’s where Bikeworks comes in.

Build Bikes. Build Bonds. Build Better Futures.

At Bikeworks, we offer something no AI can replicate: real-world, purpose-driven experiences that reconnect people on a human level.

Our flagship Charity Bike Factory brings your team together to build bikes from scratch. With tools, teamwork and a shared challenge, colleagues work side by side – problem-solving, laughing, learning, and reconnecting.

What they walk away with isn’t just a completed bike – it’s renewed trust, stronger bonds, and a sense of shared purpose.

And the best part? The bikes your team builds are donated to children and young people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to cycling. It’s a team building experience with real, visible social impact.

The Difference You Make

Every team that builds with us leaves a lasting legacy. Here’s just a glimpse of the impact:

🎁 We were so happy to be a part of building bikes for charity, and it was a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication in making this event such a success.  — Luis form Google

🚲 Bikeworks organised a fantastic event for our Business Unit that managed to bring together CSR and team building in a fun and innovative way; raising attendees’ social awareness, while helping them develop their communication and collaboration skills.” — Charles from PWC

🌍 Thank you so much for the great team activity, everyone was super enthusiastic. I’m not sure if we were the best bike mechanics you have ever met, but what was most important: we were impressed by the impact your organisation has on people and children who are struggling in society, for whatever reason. Glad we could do our bit.” — Marleen from Coca Cola

These stories are why we do what we do. Your day out becomes someone else’s path to independence, confidence, and joy.

Why This Matters Now – “Step away from the screen. Reconnect. Collaborate. Make a difference.”

As AI reshapes the workplace, human skills are becoming your organisation’s most valuable asset.

Face-to-face collaboration. Empathy. Real-time problem-solving. Purpose.

These are the things that can’t be replaced by machines — and they’re exactly what our sessions are designed to unlock.

The Future of Work Needs More Humanity

Whether you’re leading a remote-first team, managing digital fatigue, or looking for ways to live your company values, Bikeworks gives you a way to bring your people together in a meaningful, measurable way.

✅ Purpose-led

✅ Hands-on and inclusive

✅ Proven to boost morale, trust, and connection

Building Teams with Purpose — Now is the Time!

When I first became involved with Bikeworks nearly two decades ago, it was because I believed in something simple but powerful — that everyone deserves access to physical activity and all the benefits that come with it. I’ve lived with Generalised Anxiety Disorder for a long time, and back then I’d recently discovered that light exercise outdoors really helped me (and it still does). Through my day job, I also knew that many disabled people were experiencing barriers to participation.

At the time, I was working in supported employment – supporting people who faced barriers to work find meaningful roles. It was clear to me even then that inclusion isn’t just about getting someone in the door; it’s about what happens once they’re there. That early experience has shaped everything I’ve gone on to do in my career. Today, I work in the corporate world, strategically leading programmes designed to make large global workplaces more inclusive. Many people agree this is the right thing to do – but what I feel is being lost at the moment, amid heavy news coverage of I&D (or DEI), are the business benefits that come when all employees feel like they belong: increased innovation, reduced risk, and lower employee turnover.

That’s why, as Chair of Bikeworks, I see our team building offer not as a “nice to have,” but as a timely opportunity to bring your teams together with a shared purpose – to do something small to address social inequality that has a big impact. As part of the session, you’ll build bikes that are gifted to adults or children who face barriers to physical activity – such as disability, mental health conditions, or low income – helping to reduce isolation and support sustainable travel.

“Building a bike sounds technical!”

And it is – which means your whole team will likely be learning something new! Our instructors are trained to teach your team in an inclusive, supportive way. They don’t just help people bond – they help them build. And if you have team members who need adjustments or support, we can accommodate that.

In my experience (as someone who always dreads roleplays!), these sessions are enjoyable and practical – everyone’s moving around, and they really are a lot of fun.
