Bikeworks x Nova – The Power of a Bike

Building Futures, One Bike at a Time: Spotlight on Nova

At Charity Bike Factory, every bike you build unlocks opportunities for children and families in your community.

Delivered by Bikeworks, Charity Bike Factory is a team building experience with a difference. While your team competes in fun, bicycle-based challenges and assembles bikes from scratch, the real impact happens after the event—when those bikes are donated to local organisations making a difference.

One of our incredible partners is Nova, a grassroots charity supporting families in North Kensington. Their story, and the stories of the families they work with, show just how powerful a bike can be.

Meet Nova: Supporting Families to Thrive

Based in Ladbroke Grove, Nova is a small but mighty charity dedicated to improving the lives of families in some of London’s most disadvantaged communities.

Emerging from the community’s deep-rooted commitment to supporting one another, Nova’s Family Programme now provides year-round support to over 1,400 people, including more than 700 children and young people.

Their work goes far beyond crisis response. After-school clubs, holiday activities, and family support services are all designed to break the cycle of poverty and exclusion, empowering families to thrive, not just to survive.

“Every new opportunity, right down to an individual bike, is an essential link in that chain.”

– Matt Barnett, Head of Young People and Families

Why a Bike Matters

For the families Nova supports, a bike is more than a means of transport. It’s a chance to explore, stay active, and build confidence.

Through this partnership, every bike built is more than just pedals and gears—it’s a tool for transformation.

“You might think you’re just building a bike. But to the child who receives it, you’re building memories, opportunities, and a sense of self-belief. It’s a practical contribution to real social change.”

– Matt Barnett, Head of Young People and Families

A bike can help a child grow in confidence and that confidence often extends to their family and the people around them. By building bikes with us, your team isn’t just putting parts together, you’re helping create those moments of independence and connection.

Thank You

What makes our team building experience different is the strong, nurturing relationships we have with grassroots community partners like Nova. These trusted organisations ensure the bikes you build go exactly where they’re needed most, making a real, lasting difference in families’ lives.

Thank you to Nova for the incredible work they do—and thank you to all the teams who take part in our Charity Bike Factory events.
