1995 was the year that the Mile End community Project was founded– with a lack of services in the Mile End area, a group of us decided to start our own organisation.  The goal was to ensure young people were engaged in activities that encouraged positive outlooks and outcomes. Our approach was to use the existing skills within our team to create an environment that was fun, inclusive and that would allow our participants to creatively express themselves.

Our journey since 1995 has been truly amazing.  We’ve produced award winning films and projects.  We are extremely proud of having been able to help all those we have engaged with explore our fast-changing society in a way that brings them into a deeper engagement with civic life in London today.

We owe a huge thanks to our participants, community, creative, collaborators, not to mention all the volunteers and staff throughout the years for joining us on this epic journey, and we hope that you’ll continue to be a part of our story.

Bikeworks is a leader in the cycling world, and we are proud to partner with them on various projects, including the BMX Build and Gift campaign, part of the Paris 2024 Olympics initiative. This campaign has brought incredible joy to our community, not only to the recipients but also to their families. Watching children ride their brand-new BMX bikes around the neighbourhood has been truly heartwarming. The feedback from the community has been touching. Families have shared how these bikes have made a difference, especially during difficult times with the rising cost of living. Owning and even sharing a new bike has been a special experience for many. None of this would have been possible without the vision and hard work of the Bikeworks team. Everyone has a story of their first bike and the memories of childhood cycling. Through this partnership, we’ve helped create new stories for our community.
